Zones: 5 to 8

Stratification Requirement: Seed requires 30-60 days warm stratification followed by 90-120 cold. Soak in water at room temperature for 48 hours & change the water after 24 hours prior to the warm stratification. A few drops of Lemon Juice in the water will improve the results.

Planting Instructions:

To plant Higan Cherry Tree seeds, the seed requires 30-60 days warm stratification followed by 90-120 cold. Soak in water at room temperature for 48 hours & change the water after 24 hours prior to the warm stratification. A few drops of Lemon Juice in the water will improve the results

Next, prepare the soil by choosing a well-draining potting mix or a garden bed with good drainage, enriching it with compost or organic matter. Sow the seeds just below the surface of the soil, covering them lightly, and ensure the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Choose a sunny spot for planting, as Higan Cherry thrives in full sun.

Water the seeds regularly to keep the soil consistently moist until germination. Once seedlings appear, reduce watering but ensure the soil doesn’t dry out completely. As the seedlings grow, thin them out if they are too crowded, and transplant the strongest seedlings to their permanent location when they are large enough to handle.

Protect young plants from pests and harsh weather and consider mulching around the base to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
